The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on March 08, 2024, issued the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Index Providers) Regulations, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The objective of the regulation is to foster transparency and accountability in the governance and administration of Indices
• The registration of index providers such as application for grant of certificate of registration, eligibility criteria, etc. have been stated
• The Governance and Conflict of interest such as the Code of conduct, responsibilities, etc. have been stated.
• The quality of the Index and methodology have been stated.
• Forms have been attached to the schedule
These regulations shall come into force on the one hundred and eightieth day of March 08, 2024.
