The State Pollution Control Board, Odisha (SPCBO) on February 29, 2024, issued a notification regarding the Housing and Building Construction Projects the revised classification under Red, Orange, Green & White.
The following has been stated-
•Industrial sheds, universities, Colleges, hostels for Educational Institutions, and buildings of IT industries shall be classified under the ROGW if they fall under the criteria of the table mentioned in the document attached.
•Consent to operate of building construction project shall be granted as per the frequency specified for Red & Orange category industries.
•The residential buildings/ apartments in Orange and Red Category shall be surveyed by the Board engaging 3rd party agencies. The Sewage quality may also be monitored at the prescribed frequency (Red- Twice a year and Orange - Once a year) if the sewage is not discharged to an organized sewer with terminal STP. The board may carry out the survey in all major cities starting from Bhubaneswar.
• The Board shall develop a standard procedure to estimate the Sewage generation of residential/commercial building projects.
This order shall come into force with effect from the date of its issue.
