The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) on March 14, 2024, notified the Captive Elephant (Transfer or Transport) Rules, 2024.
The following has been stated: -
•Rule 2 lays down various definitions of the terms like elephant assistant, and veterinary practitioner.
•Rule 3 is about the Application for the Transfer of an Elephant.
•Rule 4 is about Inquiry by the Deputy Conservator of Forests.
•Rule 5 specifies the Transfer within the State.
They shall come into force on March 14, 2024.
