The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) on March 15, 2024, issued the Cookware, Utensils, and Cans for Foods and Beverages (Quality Control) Order 2024 to supersede the Cookware and Utensils (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
This shall come into force on September 01, 2024.
It states that for Small Enterprises as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, it shall come into force with effect from December 01, 2024
Provided also that Micro Enterprises as defined under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), shall come into force with effect from March 01, 2025.
The following has been stated namely: -
•It states that Goods or articles specified in the Table shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard specified in said Table and shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
•It states this order shall not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export.
• It states that the Bureau shall be the certifying and enforcing authority for the goods or articles specified.
