The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on March 15, 2024, issued a clarification in respect of instructions dated August 31, 2023, on the provision of telecommunication services by the licensees through franchisees, Agents, and Distributors (Point of Sale).
The following has been stated: -
•The telecom association vide their representation dated February 09, 2024, has requested for reconsideration on obtaining affidavits by POS in case of non-availability of documents as mentioned in para 6 & 7 of the instructions dated August 31, 2023.
•The issue has been examined by DoT and it is conveyed that the request for the replacement of the affidavit with an undertaking is not acceptable. Further, it is also clarified that the notarization of the affidavits is not mandatory.
