The Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on March 15, 2024, issued a notification regarding the Food Product category for Edible Dried Fruits/ Vegetable Seeds of Licensing through FoSCoS.
It is clarified that, at present, there is no specific standard for Watermelon Seeds or any other Edible Dried Fruits/ Vegetable Seeds that have been laid down under FSSR. However, FSSAI has examined the matter and as an interim measure to safeguard the interest of consumers, it has been decided that the Product Names will be added in FoSCoS to license Edible Dried Fruits/ Vegetable Seeds.
Food Businesses may apply under the General Manufacturing Kind of Business for the said categories, till the Food Authority notifies such time-specific standard.
