The Government of Kerala on March 11, 2024, notified Kerala Abkari Labour Welfare Fund (Amendment) Scheme, 2024 further to amend the Kerala Abkari Labour Welfare Fund Scheme, 1990.
The following has been stated: -
•In paragraph 26,
(i)In sub-clause (1), for the words "who are eligible to become members" the words "who have completed one month's continuous service" shall be substituted.
(ii)After sub-clause (3) the following sub-clauses shall be inserted, that is: -" (4) Workman to become a member of the welfare scheme as per his wish within fifteen days of the application, the employer shall examine the same and submit the recommendation in writing to the Welfare Board authorities for further action. It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure membership in the Welfare Board of any worker who has completed three months’ continuous service if he so desires.
•In paragraph 38 after sub-clause (4) the following sub-clause shall be inserted,
The employer shall deduct the said amount from the monthly salary in a maximum of 36 installments, and refund the said amount to the account of the Board, and the amounts due shall be respectively and should be allotted to the account of the workers.”.
•For paragraph 41A the following paragraph shall be inserted, namely: -
41A Advance/loan from PF amount for marriage of member's daughter/women workers, medical expenses of family members and higher education of member's children - Member's daughters or Marriage of women workers, medical expenses of family members.
It shall come into force immediately.
