The Government of Goa on March 15, 2024, issued the Goa Regulation and Control of Temporary and Seasonal Structures Permitted under Coastal Regulation Zone Notification Ordinance, 2024.
This shall come into force on March 15, 2024.
The following has been specified namely: -
• It applies to beach shacks permitted by the Department of Tourism under the Goa Shack Policy and all other temporary structures permitted by the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority.
• It mentions that the allottee must obtain all necessary permissions, consents, or licenses required under Central Legislation for the erection or operation of a beach shack before commencing operation in each tourist season.
• It specifies that No allottee of a beach shack or temporary seasonal structure shall commence operations unless all permissions and licenses are obtained and all terms and conditions are satisfied, and certified by the Director within 15 days of intimation.
• It states that the allottee of a beach shack, operating under the Goa Shack Policy and this Ordinance, must dismantle it and restore the beach site by June 10 each year and failure prompts removal by the concerned authority within a week, makes the allottee liable for compensation of Rs. 5,000/- per day for delays.
