Labour ComplianceThe Government of Uttarakhand on March 15, 2024, issued a notification regarding the revision and determination of the minimum rates of wages for the employees employed in Commercial Establishments and Shops.

The following has been stated: -

•After due consideration and consultation with the Uttarakhand Minimum Wage Advisory Board, from April 01, 2024, the revised rates and other rules will be applicable in the state.

•The minimum rates of basic wages payable to adult employees employed for different categories of work will be based on 301 points of the All India Consumer Price Index (2001=100).

•Variable Dearness Allowance: - In case of an increase in Consumer Price Index (CPI) above 301 points of the All India Consumer Price Index (2016=100), Dearness Allowance will be adjusted at the rate of ₹20 per point and the adjustment will be made in April and October of each year respectively in the preceding year. Variable dearness allowance will be paid on the average of the consumer price index for the months of July to December and from January to June of the current year.

•The daily rate of wages shall not be less than 1/26 of the above monthly minimum basic wage rate and variable dearness allowance.

•The hourly rate shall not be less than 1/6 of the daily rate.
