The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, (MoAFW), issued a notification regarding the National Mission on Edible Oils- Oil Palm.
The Centrally Sponsored Scheme which aims to enhance the edible oilseeds production and availability in the country by harnessing Oil Palm area expansion and increasing Crude Palm Oil production. The Scheme provides a Viability Gap Payment to insulate the farmers from the volatility in Crude Palm Oil prices. VGP is paid directly through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), when the farmer’s payment of FFB given by the industry falls below the Viability Price, which is declared by the Government of India for every Oil Palm Year (1st November to 31st October), as per the approved Scheme guideline.
