The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on March 21, 2024, issued a notification regarding the Special drives to check the Adulteration of Milk and Milk Products like Khoya, Sweets, etc during the festive season.
The following has been specified namely: -
• It mentions that during festive seasons, there's a heightened risk of adulteration in milk and milk products due to increased demand,it shall be conducting special surveillance and enforcement drives by Food Safety Officers in hotspot areas can effectively prevent such practices while ensuring product safety.
• It states that authorities are requested to monitor the production and sale of milk and related products closely through regular enforcement and surveillance activities, including deploying Food Safety on Wheels where feasible, particularly in prominent markets.
• It specifies that it has aimed at ensuring the safety and adherence to food standards of Milk and Milk Products like Khoya, Sweets, etc, to enhance consumer confidence nationwide.
