Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) on March 21, 2024, issued the Insecticides (Second Amendment) Rules, 2024, to further amend the Insecticides Rules, 1971.

The following has been amended namely: -

• In rule 10 (3A) clause (i), specifies that persons intending to conduct pest control operations using Aluminum Phosphide, Methyl bromide, and Ethylene dibromide shall obtain a license, valid for five years and renewable for another five years upon inspection, with requisite fees.

• In rule 10 (3A) clause (i), a proviso has been inserted, which states “Provided that a person who applies for a grant of license to undertake pest control operations with the use of Glyphosate and its derivatives shall be deemed to have been granted a license if the licensing officer did not grant him license after the expiry of a period of thirty days from the date of submission of his application with a fee of one thousand rupees for all places of operation using such glyphosate and its derivatives.”
