The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on April 26, 2024, issued Directions under section 13, read with sub-clauses (i) and (v) of clause (b) of subsection (1) of section 11, of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Act, 1997 (24 of 1997) and the Standards of Quality of Service Basic Telephone Service (Wireline) and Cellular Mobile Telephone Service Regulations, 2009 (7 of 2009) as amended from time to time, regarding submission of details of Base Stations.
The Authority has observed shortcomings in the current format for submitting details of the Base Stations and Drop Call Rate (DCR) matrix by service providers. These include missing details such as the date of commissioning or de-commissioning of Base Stations, the type of connectivity for each Base Station, and information on 5G Base Stations and cells.
To address these issues and improve the quality of service assessment, the Authority has decided to revise the format for submission of Base Station details.
Under its powers conferred by the TRAI Act, the Authority directs all Access Service Providers to submit Base Station details through the designated portal within twenty-one days of each quarter's end, adhering to the format provided in Annexure-I and the guidelines outlined in Annexure-II.
