Labour ComplianceThe Government of Tripura on April 26, 2024, notified that no shopkeeper or employer is required to apply for registration of his shop or establishment under the Tripura Shops and Establishments Act, 1970.

The State Government has deleted Section 16 of The Tripura Shops and Establishments Act, 1970 vide The Tripura Shops and Establishments (Fifth Amendment) Act, 2021 (Notification No. F 8(3)Law/Leg-l/2021 (P) Dated May 15, 2021) to comply with the purpose of Ease of doing Business in the State.

Section 16(1) of The Tripura Shops and Establishments Act, 1970 states that every shopkeeper or employer shall apply for registration of his shop or establishment under this Act and Section 16(6) of the Tripura Shops and Establishments Act, 1970 provides that every shopkeeper or employer shall apply for renewal of the certificate of registration of his shop or establishment after the expiry of three years from the date of issue of the certificate of registration.
