EHS ComplianceThe Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (PESO) on April 29, 2024, notified regarding the proposal for the repeal of the Explosives Act, 1884 (4 of 1884) and the introduction of the Explosives Bill, 2024.

The following has been stated namely: -

• It specifies the power of the Central government to prohibit manufacturing positions used sale transport import or export of explosives.

• It states that any person who intends to manufacture, possess, use, sell, transport, import, or export any explosive shall make an application for obtaining a license to the licensing authority.

• It specifies the punishment for contravening the provisions of this act.

• It mentions that the Explosive Act of 1884, shall stand repealed and it shall not effect the previous operations of the licenses granted and orders issued under the repealed act.

The Objections or suggestions, if any, with respect to this draft bill shall be taken into consideration till May 25, 2024.
