The Government of India aims to promote gender equality across all educational institutions by appointing Gender Champions, who can be individuals of any gender above the age of 16. These champions are expected to foster an environment where girls are treated with dignity and respect. Referring to an office letter dated May 29, 2023, educational institutions are urged to swiftly implement the 'Guidelines for Gender Champions in Educational Institutions' available on the UGC website. Additionally, the Ministry of Women and Child Development has introduced a badge for Gender Champions, available on its website and the MyGov portal.
