The University Grants Commission (UGC) on April 30, 2024, issued advisories to the HEIs to take action in respect of providing a safe and secure environment for women in the workplace.
The following has been advised namely: -
• To constitute an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and a Special/Women's Cell in the institutions to deal with gender-based violence and conduct gender sensitization programs and display the names and contact details of the members of the ICC on the notice board.
• To display banners and posters at conspicuous places in the buildings to create awareness among the employees about sexual harassment.
• To place a billboard showing the penal consequences of Sexual Harassment and, a toll-free number, women's helpline number - 181 and emergency response support number - 112 shall also be provided on the billboard.
• To organize training programs aimed at raising awareness about sexual harassment among the employees of the institution.
It is also requested to fill in all the details regarding compliance with the above-mentioned points through online mode on the form available on the SAKSHAM portal - saksham.ugc.ac.in and on the UAMP portal - uamp.ugc.ac.in for the year 2023-24.
