The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) on May 14, 2024, issued the Wholesale Price in India for the Month of April 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The annual rate of inflation based on all India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) numbers is 1.26 % (Provisional) for the month of April 2024(over April 2023).
• The Positive rate of inflation in April 2024 is primarily due to an increase in prices of food articles, electricity, crude petroleum & natural gas, machinery & equipment, and other manufacturing, etc.
• The index numbers and inflation rate for the last three months of all commodities and WPI components have been attached to the notification in a tabular form.
• The WPI for March 2024 stood at 0.79% as compared to March, 2024.
• The provisional figures of WPI will undergo revision as per the final revision policy of WPI.
