The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) on March 12, 2024, notified regarding the activities that need to install the Sewerage Treatment Plants (STP) compulsorily and ensure the reuse of treated water.
The following has been stated for the sewered areas where STP shall be installed: -
• All the residential Group Housing Projects with 120 units and above or generating sewage of 80 KLD and above.
• Commercial construction Projects with a total built-up area of 5000 sq. meters and above or generating sewage of 35 KLD or above.
• Educational Institutions having a total built-up area of 5000 sq. meters and above or generating sewage of 35 KLD or above.
• Townships and Area Development Projects with an area of 10 acres and above.
The following has been stated for the unsewered areas where STP shall be installed: -
• All the residential Group Housing Projects with 20 units and above or having a total built-up area of 2000 sq. meters including the basement.
• Commercial construction Projects with a total built-up area of 2000 sq. meters and above.
• Educational Institutions having a total built-up area of 5000 sq. meters
• Townships and Area Development Projects with an area of 10 acres and above.
