The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on May 13, 2024, notified regarding the Registration of Importers as per the provision of Plastic Waste Management (PWM) Rules, 2016.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It is with reference to Annexures I, II, III & IV, regarding obtaining the registration from CPCB/SPCB/PCC on the Centralized EPR portal for Plastic Packaging for clearance of import consignments of plastic packaging/commodities with plastic packaging.
• It states that necessary instructions shall be issued to concerned authorities to consider the existing registration certificates issued to importers, indicating the validity of one year, as a "one-time Registration Certificate" which shall not require renewal and clear the importers' consignment.
• It specifies that the registration status shall also be available on CPCB's EPR Plastic portal - https://eprplastic.cpcb.gov.in/#/plastic/home/maindashboard.
