The University Grants Commission (UGC) on May 14, 2024, issued a notification regarding the publishing of maps of India in conformity with maps provided by the survey of India.
ln the sub-section (2) of Criminal Law Amendment (Amending) Act, 1990 which states: "whosoever publishes a map of India, which is not in conformity with the maps of India as published by Survey of India, shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to six months, or with fine, or with both".
The Higher Educational Institutions are requested to ensure compliance with the aforementioned law. ln this regard, a copy of the Criminal Law Amendment (Amending) Act, 1990 Gazette of India dated April 17, 1990, is enclosed.
