The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) on May 23, 2024, issued the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Procedure, Terms and Conditions for grant of Transmission Licence and other related matters) Regulations, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Eligibility for Grant of License
• No person shall be eligible for a grant of licence for inter-State transmission of electricity unless it is:
o Selected through the process under the competitive bidding guidelines issued under section 63 of the Act; or
o An entity selected by the Central Government or its authorized agency to implement a project under the regulated tariff mechanism
• The Procedure for Grant of License has been stated
• The Terms and Conditions of the License have been stated
• Forms are attached to the regulations
