The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), on May 27, 2024, notified the Introduction of Encryption on ETI protocol for all segments.
The exchange plans to implement AES 256 encryption on the ETI (Interactive) communication channel with the trading engine. This means all messages between the member application and the trading engine must be encrypted by the sender and decrypted by the receiver.
The following has been stated-
•Communication and API Changes: Vendors and in-house developers have been informed about the encryption implementation. The ETI API changes and communication parameters have been published.
•Test Market Availability: A test (simulation) market has been available since March 28, 2024, with both encrypted and non-encrypted channels running in parallel. The discontinuation date for the non-encryption channel in the simulation was initially set for May 13, 2024, but has been extended to June 08, 2024. Post this date, non-encrypted applications will no longer connect to the simulation.
•Production Go-Live Strategy: The production environment will support both encrypted and non-encrypted channels simultaneously. Members are encouraged to migrate their applications to the encrypted channel in phases, starting with a few Session IDs.
•Migration Process: Members must inform the exchange in advance about the Session IDs they wish to migrate to the encrypted channel. Notifications should be sent to [email protected] at least one day before migration, no later than 5 PM.
•Availability: The encryption channel for all segments in production will be available from June 08, 2024. Segment-wise IP ports for the encryption channel in production will be provided.
Members are advised to complete the necessary development for encryption before the non-encryption channel discontinuation date and gradually migrate their applications to the encrypted channel.
