Industry Specific ComplianceThe Directorate of Air Traffic Management on May 17, 2024, issued a circular regarding Verification & Validation charges by AAl for Aeronautical surveyed data provided by State/PSU/Private/Defense owned airport/ Heliport.

The following has been stated: -

•Aeronautical surveying is a highly specialized activity requiring specific skill and expertise. The aeronautical survey programme provides critical information about airport features, obstructions & navigational aids.

•This data is needed for safe aircraft operation and therefore is safety critical. Airport surveying needs extensive knowledge of ICAO documents related to aerodromes and their environs with respect to the operational areas, obstacle limitation surfaces, navigational facilities, PANS-OPS surfaces, etc.

•Surveyors must also have the knowledge of ICAO requirements of accuracies and integrity of the data collected and the adoption of the World Geodetic System-1984 as the standard geodetic reference system for international civil aviation.

•In view of regulatory requirements for the accuracy/integrity of the published surveyed data in AIP India, DGCA requires private/state Operators to get the data validated from AAl through the Verification & Validation (V & V) process.

•The purpose of this Circular is to standardize the Verification & Validation procedure for all the Aerodrome Operators requiring V & V certificate from AAl for the survey data.

This Circular is effective from December 06, 2023, to December 05, 2026.

The detailed circular is given in the document below.
