The Government of Tamil Nadu on May 03, 2024, issued the Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Fifth Amendment) Act, 2024, to further amend the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Section 110A – “Solid waste management” shall be inserted, it states that it shall be the duty of the panchayat to manage the solid waste to keep the public place clean, by adopting a system of collection of segregated waste at source, transportation, processing and disposal of solid waste scientifically in a place specifically allotted.
• In section 136, the expression “filth”, shall be substituted with the expression “filth, solid waste”.
