The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, on May 28, 2024, notified the Self-Contained Drinking Water Cooler (Quality Control) Order, 2024 to further amend the Self-Contained Drinking Water Cooler (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
The following has been stated-
•The goods or articles specified in column (2) of the Table shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard mentioned in column (3) of the Table and shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
•The Enterprises other than Micro and Small Enterprises shall conform to such Indian Standards from the date specified in the corresponding entry under columns (5) of the Table.
•The micro-enterprise and small enterprise, as defined under clause (h) and (m) respectively of section (2) of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006) shall conform to such Indian Standards from the date specified in the corresponding entry under columns (6) and (7) of the Table respectively.
•Nothing in this Order shall apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export.
•The Bureau shall be the certifying and enforcing authority for the Goods or articles specified in the Table attached to the document.
•Any person who contravenes the provisions of this Order shall be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016
