The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on April 30, 2024, issued a notification regarding timelines for Compliance with EPR Targets and Submission of Annual Returns for FY 2022-23 and FY 2023-24 under Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022.
The following has been stated: -
•The Compliance for EPR targets for batteries for the FY 2022-23 as part of Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 in respect of batteries covered under 21 Products under Schedule I of the erstwhile E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016, shall be reflected and accounted as part of the obligations prescribed under erstwhile E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016.
•In respect of batteries other than as mentioned, the compliance for EPR targets for FY 2022-23 shall be met in FY 2023-24.
•In view of the deadline for compliance with EPR targets and submission of annual returns by the Producers for FY 2022-23 and for the year 2023-24 (for all types of battery) under the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 is June 30, 2024.
•All the Producers are required to ensure that the Annual Returns for FY 2022-23 and 2023-24 are filed on the EPR portal within the stipulated timelines.
