EHS ComplianceThe Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on May 28, 2024, notified regarding the Implementation of Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022.

The following has been stated namely: -

• Rule 4 (14) states that “Functions of Producers”, shall be read as “minimum use of domestically recycled materials' refers to use of any type of domestically recycled materials such as lithium, cobalt, Aluminium, graphite, paper, plastic, carbon, etc. obtained from recycling of any type of waste products including waste batteries”.

• Under clause (ia) of paragraph 2 of Schedule I - in case of an imported battery or battery pack, the marking of the EPR registration number done on the equipment having battery or battery pack or packaging of the equipment having battery or battery pack, as well, shall imply compliance of this provision.
