The Government of Mizoram on May 30, 2024, notified regarding the Outbreak of African Swine Fever.
The following preventive measures have been stated:
• There shall be a complete ban on import of live pigs, fresh pork and all other pork products including frozen pork from other States and other countries until further orders.
• Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Government of Mizoram shall ensure mandatory disinfection of pig-rearing premises and enforce strict hygiene measures and isolation of suspected pigs.
• Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Government of Mizoram shall undertake to ensure safe disposal of pig carcass in accordance with the 'National Action Plan for Control, Containment and Eradication of African Swine Fever'.
• It has stated that Intensive physical surveillance and immediate reporting of any unusual mortality of pigs or wild pigs to the Department Helpline No. 1962, 9366984867, 9436142908 and 9436140179 should be affected.
This notification will come into force from May 30, 2024.
