The Social Justice and Empowerment Department of Gujarat on June 03, 2024, notified regarding the Scheme of Socially and Educationally Backward Classes, Economically Backward Classes, Minority, Nomadic, and De-notified Tribes.
This shall come into force on June 03, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that under the Scheme, Rs 400/- per month stipend for 10 months shall be given to the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes, Economically Backward Classes, Minority, Nomadic, and De-notified Tribes Students.
• It states that a child desirous of availing benefits under the scheme shall be required to furnish proof of either possession of an Aadhaar number or undergo Aadhaar authentication.
• It states that any child seeking benefits under the Scheme without an Aadhaar number shall apply for Aadhaar enrolment with parental or guardian consent.
• It states that benefits under the Scheme shall be given to children upon production of:
o Aadhaar enrolment or biometric update identification slip if enrolled after age five with biometrics;
o a birth Certificate or Record of birth by the appropriate authority, or a school identity card signed by the Principal containing parents’ names; and
o proof of relationship with the parent or guardian: Birth Certificate or Record of birth by the appropriate authority, Ration Card, ECHS Card, ESIC Card, CGHS Card, Pension Card, Army Canteen Card, any Government Family Entitlement Card, or any other document specified by the Department
• It states that in cases where Aadhaar authentication fails due to poor biometrics or other reasons, the following remedial mechanisms shall be adopted
o use iris scan or face authentication if fingerprint quality is poor, with provisions for necessary devices
o offer Aadhaar One Time Password or Time-based One-Time Password authentication if biometrics fail
o if all methods fail, verify benefits using a physical Aadhaar letter with Quick Response code authentication, with Quick Response code readers provided by the Implementing Agency
