The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) on June 10, 2024, issued the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) (Eighth Amendment) Order, 2024, to further amend the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003.
The following amendment has been stated:
• In Chapter II, Clause 3 (4), which states “Permits for Import of plants, plant products etc.”, the following paragraph shall be omitted:
o “Import of consignments of seeds of coarse cereals, pulses, oil seeds and fodder seeds and seeds/stock material of fruit plant species for propagation shall only be permitted based on the recommendations of EXIM Committee of Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare (DAC&FW) except the trial material of the same as specified in Schedule-XII of Plant Quarantine Order”
This notification will come into force from June 10, 2024.
