The National Dam Safety Authority on June 07, 2024, issued the Quality Control Measures for Dam Construction Regulations, 2024.
This shall come into force on June 10, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states the quality control measures for the construction of Earth and Rockfill dams, shall comply with the requirements of the latest version of the Bureau of Indian Standard Code: 14690 relating to ‘Quality Control during Construction of Earth and Rockfill dams—Recommendations for the construction of Earth and Rockfill dams’.
• It states the quality control measures for the construction of Plain and Reinforced concrete dams, shall comply with the requirements of the latest version of the Bureau of Indian Standard Code: 457 relating to ‘Code of Practice for General Construction of Plain and Reinforced Concrete for Dam and Other Massive Structures for the construction of Concrete dams’.
• It states the quality control measures for the construction of other dams, shall comply with the latest version of the relevant Bureau of Indian Standard documents, and if such documents are not available, the latest versions of other standards, namely the International Organisation for Standardization, the International Commission on Large Dams bulletins and other international standards, after obtaining approval from the competent authority for the project.
