The Government of Kerala on June 05, 2024, issued the Kerala Panchayat Raj (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024 to further amend the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, 1994.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Section 6 sub-section (3) which states “Strength of Panchayats” have been amended namely: -
o Clause (a) has been substituted namely: -,
“In the case of Village Panchayat, be less than fourteen or more than twenty four”
o Clause (b) has been substituted namely: -
“In the case of a Block Panchayat, be than fourteen or more than twenty four”
o Clause (c) has been substituted namely: -
“In the case of a District Panchayat, be less than seventeen or more than thirty three”
This amendment shall come into force on June 05, 2024
