The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) on June 07, 2024, issued the notification regarding the proposal of Future Fuel Efficiency Norms i.e. CAFÉ – III & CAFÉ – IV norms.
The following has been stated namely: -
• BEE has initiated the process of developing future Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency norms i.e. for CAFE-III and CAFE -IV periods.
• The following has been proposed namely: -
o A block period of 5 years for the next CAFE Cycles will be as follows:
1. CAFE III: 2027-2032
2. CAFE IV: 2032-2037
o Existing CAFE-II norms are fixed on the MIDC Cycle. It is proposed to switch over from MIDC to WLTP from March 31, 2027, for the purpose of type approval.
o Accordingly, CAFE- III & IV targets are proposed on the WLTP cycle. The proposed CAFE III & IV norms at WLTP shall be 91.7 g CO2/Km & 70 g CO2/km respectively. The proposed weighted average of unladen mass in kilogram (kg) is considered as 1170 Kg.
