The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) on April 05, 2024, notified regarding the Exemption for import of High End and High Value used Medical Equipment other than critical care medical equipment Hazardous and Other under Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Second Amendment Rules, 2022.
The following has been stated:
• It has stated that the Used Critical care medical equipment is covered under Basel NO. B1110 of Schedule VI of the Hazardous Waste Management Rules (HOWM) Rules, which states “Hazardous and Other wastes prohibited for import” and is prohibited for import or re-use.
o High-End Ventilators
o Nitric Oxide Generator
o Flexible Bronchoscope
o ABG Machines
o Haemodialysis machines
o Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
• It has requested that necessary action may be taken to sensitize officers under your jurisdiction regarding the said matter. The difficulties, if any, may be brought to the notice of the Board.
