The Government of Manipur on June 13, 2024, notified regarding the registration of handloom or handicrafts products of Manipur under the Geographical Indication of Goods (Registration & Protection) Act, 1999. Application in prescribed form is invited from any interested individual/ society/organization/association.
Based on the application, officials will interact with producers, i.e. weavers or artisans in their respective production areas or places. Thereafter, certain formalities of objection or inputs, etc. will be invited and followed by a public hearing. Submission of application to this office is only compilation for assisting the applicant but the final authority is the Registrar of Geographical Indications, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, Chennai.
The last date for submission of the application is July 31, 2024 (Wednesday).
