The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) on June 13, 2024, issued the Cast Iron Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024, in supersession of the Cast Iron Products (Quality Control) Order, 2023.
This shall come into force on June 21, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It specifies that the Cast Iron Products IS: 1726:1991, IS: 1729:2002, IS: 1879:2010, IS: 13349:1992, IS: 210:2009, and IS: 1537:1976, shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standards and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards.
• It enumerates that the certifying and enforcing authority for the goods or articles shall be The Bureau of Indian Standards.
• It states that this order shall exclude domestically manufactured goods for export and those produced by micro-enterprises registered under the "Udyam portal," with specific financial thresholds of up to ₹25 lakhs in plant/equipment investment and turnover below ₹2 crores annually, certified by a Chartered Accountant.
• It states the date of implementation for Small Enterprises shall be December 01, 2024.
• It states the date of implementation for Micro Enterprises shall be March 01, 2025.
• It states the date of implementation in General (other than Micro and Small Enterprises) shall be September 01, 2024.
