The Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services Department (KSFES) on February 01, 2024, issued a Standard Operating Procedure for the retail sale of crackers, crackers godown, and crackers manufacture.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It has been designed to provide guidelines for the operation of a retail outlet specializing in the sale of crackers during seasonal periods, it shall cover all aspects of operating the retail outlet including setup, stocking, customer services, and safety procedures.
• It states that it shall cover all aspects of Storage of crackers in the godown including construction, stocking, and safety procedures.
• It states that it shall cover all aspects of the manufacture of crackers in the factory including the types of crackers, materials, process procession, construction, stocking, and safety procedure.
• It states that before sanctioning a license to structure the fire department, the Police Pollution Control Board, Labour, and other agencies shall inspect the premises, and the fire license shall be renewed every year by fire department.
• It states that manufacturers shall choose a site that is suitable for explosives manufacturing and is located away from residential areas and other high-risk zones.
• It states that the godown owner (licensee) shall be responsible for the storage of crackers, ensuring compliance with safety regulations & permits, explaining safety guidelines to customers & also responsible for keeping the godown clean and organized manner.
