The National Council for Vocational Education and Training on June 19, 2024, notified the Guidelines for Development, Approval & Usage of National Occupational Standards (NOS) & Micro Credentials (MC).
The National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, 2015, reinforces the concept of “One Nation One Standard” to ensure national standards and quality for skilling are globally aligned, providing consistent learning outcomes. This approach emphasizes practical training and assessment over traditional theory-based methods, focusing on achieving and demonstrating the skills required to meet industry standards.
Occupational standards, including related training standards and assessments, are crucial in bridging the gap between workplace employment requirements and human capital development, which encompasses education and training programs impacting individuals throughout their lives. These standards significantly contribute to the design of high-quality education and training programs by ensuring they align directly with the needs of the workplace and the broader economy.
