The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) on June 03, 2024, issued the notification regarding the Update to NPCI CL version 1.8 or above
UPI has become a preferred digital payment mode across the country. It provides ease of use, convenience and superior user experience with security and interoperability. To ensure the safety and security of the UPI systems, NPCI constantly reviews the security checks of all components in the UPI ecosystem and regularly upgrades them to address evolving threats in cyber landscape.
There are security checks implemented as part of the code embedded in the Common Library (CL) along with the feature release to enhance user experience on UPI platforms. Integration of latest versions of CL is important to ensure enhanced security and safety in UPI ecosystem.
With this objective, NPCI will be retiring the support for CL prior to Version 1.8 after 30m September 2024.
To ensure compliance PSP Banks shall certify and enable CL 1.8 or above and their respective UPI Apps shall integrate the latest version of CL within their application, on or before 30th September 2024.
Members are requested to take note of this compliance and communicate it to relevant stakeholders and their respective partners
