The Government of Karnataka on June 29, 2024, issued a draft Karnataka Platform Based Gig Workers (Social Security and Welfare) Act, 2024.
The following has been stated: -
•Section 2 lays down various definitions of the terms like Automated monitoring and decision-making systems and Aggregator.
•Section 3 specifies the establishment of the Gig Workers Welfare Board.
•Section 4 mentions the composition of the board.
•It applies to, -
(i)An aggregator providing any one or more services specified in the Schedule-1; and
(ii)Gig worker and a platform as defined in the Act.
•Any objections or suggestions will be taken into consideration after the expiry of ten working days.
