Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) on June 14, 2024, issued a notification regarding the grievance redressal mechanism for television channels.

The following has been stated: -

•The Cable Television Networks (Amendment) Rules 2021 introduced a statutory three-tier Grievance Redressal Mechanism to address grievances and complaints from citizens regarding the content broadcast by television channels.

•The television channels are requested to run awareness scrolls during their broadcasts. These scrolls may inform viewers about the grievance redressal mechanism available to them and also provide the contact details of the Grievance Officer at the bottom of the screen. This initiative aims to educate viewers about the available recourse if they have complaints about the content being broadcast.
