The Directorate General of Civil Aviation, (DGCA) on June 04, 2024, issued a notification related to recency requirements for pilots operating aircraft having all-up-weight not exceeding 5,700 Kgs.
This circular is issued to all pilots and operators, detailing training and check requirements for pilots lacking recent flying experience, including at least one takeoff and landing as PF within the past 90 days on a particular type or variant of aircraft or a suitable approved FSTD. Applicable to operators and pilots of aircraft with an all-up-weight not exceeding 5,700 Kg, including NSOPs, scheduled commuter, general aviation, state government, and flying training institutes, these requirements are mandatory and part of continuing qualification per CAR Section 7 Series B Part XVIII. They also apply to pilots with Open Rating as per AIC 3 of 1985, with recency counted from their last takeoff and landing on any endorsed aircraft. This circular supersedes Operations Circular 2 of 2004.
Check requirements are detailed in the attached document. All training, aircraft familiarization, and checks must be logged in the pilot logbook with the check-pilot/instructor/examiner/AME's countersignature and the FTO/ATO. DGCA forms are to be used for flight checks, and soft copies of ICAO contracting state approvals of the check-pilot/instructor/examiner/FSTD/ATO must be retained for four years. Pilots who completed initial endorsement training on a simulator must undergo recurrent training on a similar FSTD every two years. If sufficient simulators are unavailable, recurrent training can be conducted on a similar simulator or actual aircraft with prior FSD, DGCA approval.
