The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) on June 20, 2024, issued guidelines for the release of funds to Indian Missions/Posts through the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) for the promotion of Indian Cinema under the DCDFC Scheme.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that these guidelines shall promote Indian Cinema through Indian Missions by providing financial assistance via NFDC and the Ministry of External Affairs under the DCDFC Scheme.
• It states that the funds under the scheme shall be released via NFDC to the XP Division of the Ministry of External Affairs, which in turn allocates them to Indian Missions in countries listed in Annexure-I for promoting Indian Cinema activities.
• It states that the different countries in the world have been divided into four categories 'A', 'B', 'C' & 'D' and financial assistance of Rs.80 lakhs, Rs.40 lakhs, Rs.20 lakhs & Rs.10 lakhs respectively shall be provided per annum for each category.
• It states that the funding shall be admissible for film festivals, subtitling, dubbing, outreach activities (including industry collaborations, exhibitions, seminars, and social media campaigns), hiring media correspondents, setting up Indian pavilions at festivals, and other approved activities, managed by Indian Missions under yearly action plans and cost estimates.
• It states the scheme shall be for the financial year 2024-25 and can be extended based on feedback and requirements.
