The Ministry of Mines on July 02, 2024, issued the Draft Offshore Areas Mineral Conservation and Development Rules, 2024.
The following has been stated:
• Applicability:
These rules shall apply to all minerals in the offshore areas, except mineral oils and hydrocarbons described in sub-section (1) of section 3;
• Competent Authority in respect of the exploration plan:
The Controller General or an officer of the Indian Bureau of Mines, authorised in writing by the Controller General shall be the competent authority to take decisions with respect to approval and modification of an exploration plan.
The last date for receipt of the comments/suggestions is 30 days from July 02, 2024.
