Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Jammu and Kashmir on June 25, 2024, issued the Measures to minimize the effects of heat wave on livestock/Poultry.

The following has been stated:

• To ensure availability of water, feed & fodder and proper animal shelter across your organization/ District.

• To make arrangement of installing cool roof in animal shelters, if any, which are designed to reflect more sunlight than a conventional roof absorbing less solar energy. Alternately, dairy farmers may be advised to cover the tin roof of the shed with locally available insulating material.

• To keep the fire protection mechanism in place and ready for any emergency in Dairy Plants/Poultry Farms like provision of sand/water buckets. Fire extinguishers. etc.

• Conduct fertility camps in the districts severely affected by heatwaves in order to overcome reproductive inefficiency in the animals so that the calving is not delayed.
