The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAHD) on July 03, 2024, issued the notification regarding the Requirement of certification for Influenza Like Illness (ILI) including respiratory distress in live animals (pet cats) before importing into India.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Pre-import requirement (to be certified in Official Veterinary Health Certificate): -
o The cat on the day. of examination shows no clinical signs and symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) including respiratory distress.
o Examination of the cat not more than 7 days before shipment.
• Post-import requirements: -
o An undertaking from the owner to inform to concerned Animal Quarantine and Certification Services, in case any respiratory illness is observed in the pet cat within 14 days of import into lndia (only for Avian lnfluenza affected countries)
