The Government of West Bengal on July 01, 2024, issued guidelines for the issuance of Transit Pass for Converted Timber, etc.
The following has been stated: -
•Transit Pass shall be issued in accordance with the West Bengal Forest Produce Transit Rules 2019 for movement and/or transport of converted timber (sawn timber/veneer/ply) and payment of fees as prescribed.
•As machines for conversion have become more efficient with the passage of time, the conversion percentage of a round log into Veneer, Fali, and Rolla shall be 70%, 10%, and 20% respectively.
•No Transit Pass for jote land/private lands will be issued during the rainy season, i.e. from June 16 to September 15 in North Bengal and from July 14 to September 15 for South Bengal. However, transit of produce felled up to June 15 for North Bengal and July 13 for South Bengal may be allowed with a certificate that felling was done before the date. In case of any special circumstances such as in case of the exigency of any government /government-sponsored developmental project or case of financial hardship of the owner of the produce, an exception shall be made by the DFO/DCF/DFD keeping a record of the reason thereof.
