The Ministry of Education (MoE) on July 10, 2024, issued the clarification on misleading news item regarding the NCERT Textbook.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It is in reference to the news item published in The Hindu dated 9th July 2024 titled “Confusion over revised NCERT textbooks for classes VI, IX and XI leave teachers in a tizzy” it is clarified that the news item is factually incorrect and misleading.
• The following is reiterated to allay any misgivings and for greater clarity:
o NCERT shall release all Grade 6 textbooks by July 2024, contrary to the earlier incorrect deadline of 2 months.
o NCERT has provided a month-long bridge programme across 10 subjects for Grade 6 to facilitate a smooth transition to the new curriculum.
o CBSE has confirmed that no changes in curriculum or textbooks for classes other than 3 and 6 for the academic year 2024-25.
o RPDC Bangalore, serving South Indian states including Tamil Nadu, has received and fulfilled demands for Class 9 and 11 textbooks from NCERT without any reported shortages.
