The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, (CERC), on July 15, 2024, issued a notification regarding the Determination of a levellised generic tariff for the first year of the Control Period under Regulation 8 of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Terms and Conditions for Tariff determination from the Renewable Energy Sources) Regulations, 2024.
The Commission issued the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Terms and Conditions for Tariff Determination from Renewable Energy Sources) Regulations, 2024, on June 12, 2024 (referred to as "the RE Tariff Regulations"). These regulations outline the terms, conditions, and procedures for determining tariffs for the following categories of Renewable Energy (RE) generating stations:
•Small Hydro Projects
•Biomass Power Projects with Rankine Cycle technology
•Non-fossil fuel-based co-generation Projects
•Biomass Gasifier based Power Projects
•Biogas-based Power Projects
•Refuse Derived Fuel based Municipal Solid Waste Power Projects
In accordance with Regulation 8(1) of the RE Tariff Regulations, the Commission intends to determine the generic tariff for RE projects for the first year of the control period (from July 01, 2024, to March 31, 2025), as detailed in the enclosed proposal available on the Commission’s website.
Stakeholders and interested parties are invited to submit their comments, suggestions, or objections regarding the proposal by July 31, 2024, as per sub-section (3) of Section 178 of the Act and the Electricity (Procedure for Previous Publication) Rules, 2005. The Commission will issue an Order after considering all received feedback.
